It's DeNiro's listed made-to-measure fee. It pays for your boots to be cut on a one-off pattern built from your twelve measurements (six points on each leg) rather than a standard last — and it's what lets us include the measurement review, photo checks and your Fit Promise at no extra charge.

Only need extra height, not a full custom pattern? Tall and X-Tall are a separate £35 DeNiro option.

The Vanita collezione is the Botticelli at its most jewelled: a brushed burgundy calfskin leg carrying an America-design top in the Sara leather, framed by Tommaso punched-hole detailing and set with Swarovski crystals, the spur studs matched back to the burgundy. Classical below the knee, glittering at the collar.

• Sculpted ankle and a functional front lacing through eyelets and hooks
• YKK 9 mm zip tucked to the front inside of the leg
• Comfort-reinforced outer leg for a still lower leg
• Herringbone backstrip with a medium-cut counterfort
• Removable activated-carbon insole; leather sole finished with a double-stitched Vibram outsole
